The 1991 abduction of little Michael Dunahee from a Victoria playground instigated the largest missing-child investigation in Canada up to that time and riveted attention around the world. Nearly 22 years later the case remains unsolved, but is still actively investigated.
Well-known Victoria author Valerie Green conducted extensive interviews with many people attached to this case, including Michael's family, in order to gain a broad perspective of this story. What she found was a story of strength, endurance and, ultimately, hope, as the Dunahee family turned their personal tragedy towards helping others who have experienced the abduction of a child. They maintain a staunch believe that one day they will be reunited with their son.
This book also includes appendices with child safety tips, information on what to do when a child goes missing or a missing child is seen, and a list of Child Find offices across Canada.
Fifty percent of royalty proceeds from book sales are being donated to Child Find BC.
There will be an official book launch at a Child Find BC fundraising event in Victoria on Friday, November 30 at CFB Esquimalt in the Wardroom at 1586 Equimalt Road.
